Planning a trip is exciting but it can also be stressful! Therefore, I gathered a list of my favorite travel resources that I’ve discovered over my years of travel.

Below, you can find the travel resources separated by category.  As I discover new ones, I’ll add them to this list.

Flights

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is my number one go to for finding the best prices.  This search engine works great if you are flexible with location and time.

Hopper Flights

Hopper is perfect for keeping an eye out for cheap flights.  Just sign up, and you will get an inbox when prices drop.

Google Flights

Google Flights is great for comparing prices and destinations.  An awesome feature about it is the map interface to check flight deals.

Accommodation

Booking.Com

Booking.com is my favorite site for finding deals.  After a few stays, you become a Genius member and get discounted rates, room upgrades, and free breakfast inclusion.  Plus, the filter feature is one of the best and easiest to use.

Hostel World

Hostel World is the best platform for backpackers who want to save money on shared rooms.  Some hostels not listed on other sites, will be found here.  Oh, and you can also find private rooms if you want the hostel experience but better sleep.

Airbnb

Airbnb is perfect for longer stays of a week or more.  It’s the best way to feel at home away from home.  You can book your own room or stay with local people to save money.  Make sure to check final price because with price increases, a hotel might be cheaper now.

Essentials

World Nomads

This is the number one travel insurance out there.  If you want to have peace of mind, I recommend getting travel insurance.  It covers medical emergencies, and protects you against lost flights, theft, and much more.

Safety Wing

Another great option for travel insurance is Safety Wing.  They also protect you against medical emergencies, theft, cancellations and more.  This is a great option for digital nomads too.

iVisa

If you aren’t sure about visa requirements to a country, iVisa checks for you and tells you about them.  Plus, you can process your visa directly through their website.

Express VPN

I never go without a VPN!  A VPN keeps your connection private and encrypts everything.  Therefore, it keeps you safe from hackers.  It also bypasses blocked sites and keeps you connected.  Plus, it can save you money when purchasing items and switching your location.

Transportation

Uber

One of my most used Apps abroad is Uber. You can find them in most cities and countries.  I use it over taxis for safety reasons, nicer cars, safer drivers, location sharing, driver ratings, and you can connect your credit card.

Rome2Rio

Rome2Rio shows you all available transportation options, including train, bus, plane, and boat.  It tells you the price and compares each company in the area. It’s my go-to for bus route checks.

Rentalcars.com

Rentalscars.com provides competitive prices at the destinations you visit.  Getting behind the wheel is a great way to explore some locations and going on road trips, such as mine in Mexico.

Planning Apps

Pinterest

Pinterest isn’t a social app.  It’s a search engine!  This is the first place I go to when planning and looking up ideas of what to visit in each city.  What I love best is you can create boards for all the inspiration.

Instagram

I get so much inspiration to travel from Instagram.   It gives me ideas for great photo spots, popular spots to eat, cool locations, and more.  Just look up local travel bloggers and local businesses for ideas.  Simply save those videos and reels into folders.

Amazon

This is the best purchasing site for any last-minute items for my trip.  Anything you need, it’s here.  I like it because I can read the reviews of each item, and it gets delivered to me quickly.  It’s where I bought my favorite travel backpack.

Entertainment Apps

Amazon Kindle

If you love reading like me, then I definitely recommend downloading the Kindle App.  There is a large selection of books to read.  If you upgrade to their membership, you get free and discounted books to read each month.

Netflix

I probably don’t need to introduce this App to you!  What I like about Netflix is I can download movies so I can watch them when I’m not connected to Wifi.  Perfect for long bus rides or when I have no service.

Spotify

There are great music apps out there, but Spotify is the easiest to use.  It functions as a radio and has all the music you love.  Plus, you can create music lists and listen to podcasts.  I also use Amazon Music too.
