The Ultimate Guide to Los Cabos in 3 Days

Although Los Cabos is not my favorite beach destination in Mexico, because Cancun takes that spot, I have to admit that it’s pretty fun.  With about 350 sunny days, it’s the perfect place for sunbathing and jumping into the sea.

What I like about Los Cabos is that there’s always something to do and some nearby destinations to visit.  However, here is a guide to Los Cabos in 3 days if that’s all you have time for.

The Ultimate Guide to Los Cabos in 3 Days

Table of Contents

Sunset Cruise

One of the best things we did in Cabo San Lucas is a sunset cruise with Cabo Mar Fiesta Dinner Cruises. The staff had terrific service from the moment we got on the cruise ship to the moment we got off.

They welcomed us with a starter drink and led us to the top deck, where we listened to live music and danced. This was followed by a tasty dinner and Mariachi that included more dancing upstairs. The best part is the view of the famous arch and beautiful skyline.

ATV adventure

We’re always up for fun and adventure, so we decided to book an ATV tour with G Force Adventures. We got to experience the thrill of speed on quads while riding through the desert and along the beach on this tour.  The views were incredible, and their service was excellent.

They pick you up and drop you off at your hotel.  Upon arrival at their main office, they equip you with necessary items, give you quick training, and lead you on a fun ride.

    The Famous Arch

If you’re in Cabos, you have to see the famous arch.   You can do this by taking a small boat tour.  The tour includes a stop at Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach).  It is a small beach facing the city where you can swim and snorkel.

Just on the other side is Playa del Divorcio (Divorce Beach) facing the Pacific Ocean.  It is connected to Lover’s Beach and is not suitable for swimming like Lover’s Beach is.

Divorce Beach is known for its rip currents and turbulent waters.  It’s too dangerous to swim in yet so beautiful and great for sun-bathing.

    Happy Hour at Mango Deck

Located at Medano Beach, this iconic restaurant and beach club has it all.  Here you can gaze out to the bay to see the Arch at Land’s End.

Not only did we enjoy amazing views and some delicious cold drinks and food, but we were able to see some wild and fun contests.  The party is throughout the day, but the entertainment continues all night.

    Walk the Marina

The Marina is your typical tourist area filled with activities, restaurants, vendors, and a new upscale shopping center.

It is where you can hunt around for the best price for water-based excursions such as boat rides, sunset cruises, scuba diving, ATV rides, snorkeling, parasailing, and much more.  It’s also a great place for delicious food, drinks, and vibrant nightlife.

    Flea Market at the Marina

Just to the side of the Marina, you have a mini flee-market.  It’s the perfect place to shop for souvenirs that hold a Mexican pottery collection, wood carvings, and beads.

They also have blankets, clothing, embroidered dresses, and many handmade items.  We find places like this fascinating and enjoy shopping at these vendors in Mexico for cute gifts.

      Dance the Night Away

We enjoyed some great live music and entertainment while in Cabos.  We already told you how awesome Mango Deck was, but at night we got our hips shaking at popular nightclubs with live bands and DJs spinning the best house music.  Though we didn’t go to the famous Cabo Wabo, we did have tons of fun at Squid Roe.

Squid Roe is an icon at Los Cabos, and we can see why!  Here you have the waiters, waitresses, and customers dancing table-top to energy-filled music inside this construction-zone-themed atmosphere with three stories.

We also enjoyed Mandala, a more upscale nightclub with colorful lighting, VIP amenities, and upscale décor.  Celebrities are even spotted here occasionally.

Walk the Art District in San Jose del Cabo

Just next door to Cabos San Lucas, you have San Jose del Cabo.  San Jose has a fascinating Art Gallery District with a long list of art galleries.

This area has become a cultural center for the city as many local and international artists can display their original paintings, sculptures, photography, and handmade items.

We also had the opportunity to walk the historic main square, where we found a beautifully detailed church.

The streets of San Jose del Cabo are pretty charming and worth some of your time. Though a day is best to visit, a few hours will do if your time is tight.

      What to Pack

Here are some travel items to pack for your trip to Mexico.

      Travel Booking Resources

      Book Your Flight:

To find cheap flights, check Skyscanner and Google Flights. These search engines check airlines to find you the best deals.  The more flexibility you have, the better flight deals available.

      Book Your Accommodation:

Booking.com is my favorite booking site for hotels but it also shows great deals on hostels and apartments. Plus, when you reach Genius Level, you get special discounts, included breakfasts, and upgrades on some hotel rooms. Hostelworld is specifically for budget travelers who enjoy hostels.  This is the best place for finding great options.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance and Visa Applications:

Travel insurance will protect you against theft, injury, illness, and cancellations. Sometimes unexpected things happen during a trip and protections will keep you covered.  Two great options are: Safety Wing and World Nomads. Also, iVisa can help you get a visa if you need one.

      Book Tours:

Sometimes the best way to see a place is through tours.  I recommend checking out Get Your Guide for some fun and unique adventures wherever you go.

I used to go down to Cabo for weekend getaways back in my single life, when I lived in California. Always a good time. More recently, I was there last year as a cruise port. We could see the arch from the ship, (and I have been out there before), so we opted for other activities. We did find an interesting tiny Cabo Museum in town. Next time, ATV.

Definitely do the ATV rides. They were quite fun.

Sounds like there’s so much to do! I’ve always wanted to speed across the beach on an ATV – sounds like so much fun! And the Arch obviously has to be seen. The Art District in San Jose del Cab looks so charming ?

ATV was one of our highlights. If you’re on the adventurous side, you’ll enjoy it. 🙂

There are quite a few things on this itinerary that I’d like to do like ATV, sunset cruise, see the famous arch, and of course happy hour. You’ve definitely got me thinking about Los Cabos.

Yes! Book yourself a ticket. 🙂 You’ll have fun!

You didn’t go to the Lovers’ Beach???

We did. Loved that little area.

What a lovely 3 days indeed. The evening cruise and the views look so beautiful. The view of the arch also seems to be a highlight of the trip. I would love to hop on to one of those ATV’s too. The stretch looks pretty thrilling. The church looks serenely beautiful. All in all, Los Cabos holds the promise of some really great times.

Los Cabos has it all starting with great weather! The ATVs were definitely one of our highlights.

I love flea markets and go to them almost at every destination. Los Cabos seems like a nice holiday destination!

Same here, we find the cutest things at the flea markets.

Thanks for the great advice and tips, looks like such a cool place to visit!

      It was definitely fun!

I could imagine going out at night would be one of my personal favorites, especially after reading life music. The rest sounds amazing, too. I love the driving around with the four wheeler, even if I would prefer a motocross ?

We try to go out at least one night at party destinations like this one and the party scence was quite fun. Definitely recommended. 🙂

This sounds like the ultimate getaway. I’d love to max relax there one day. Thanks for the post ?

Hope you make it out there soon. 🙂

Heard so many amazing things about Cabo, glad you had fun!

Many good things to experience. 🙂 Thanks!

Cabos…I remember when I was young like you guys and this place finally starting hitting the travel radar. It was all the rage. Glad to see it still has a lot of things to see and do. Lovers and Divorce Beaches…that is hilarious. Beautiful indeed.

We thought the name of the beaches were funny too. I feel Cancun used to get a lot more attention and recently I feel Cabos gets a lot more, especially with the cheap direct flights from LA. Both super fun!

I’ve never been to Los Cabos and its fairly close to me! You’ve definitely inspired me to add it as a destination to my list!

You should! You’d enjoy it. 🙂

I loved Mango Deck!! I was there with my dad lol LOVE your pictures! They completely capture the beauty of cabo ?

Isn’t it a fun place!? Thanks so much! Hope you get to go back again.

The Art District here looks absolutely incredible. I have a thing for the insides of old churches, especially colonial ones. Thanks so much for sharing ?

The area was definitely a fun one to explore. I agree about the churches. Their details are always fun to see.

My inlaws sometimes go down to Cabo, so this is a handy guide. If you can tear yourself away from the beach, the market looks great. And of course, one MUST go dancing!

The markets is quite fun! Hope you get to visit soon.

Wow Los Cabos sounds amazing, you guys did so much in only three days! You can’t beat it when you are pretty much guaranteed perfect weather too!

Perfect weather makes for fun times!

I’m a mexican traveller and I haven’t been to Los Cabos! I so want to be there! Very nice pictures by the way.

      You should! It’s worth a visit. 🙂

It seems like Los Cabos is the perfect sunny getaway ! I did not know about the Arch of Los Cabos, it reminds me of the one located in Malta which unfortunately was broken not long time ago. But back to los Cabos I think that my favorite activities would be the flea market, a little bit of art to finish the day with a cool happy hour

I heard about the one in Malta. What a bummer. You should make a trip to Cabos. You would enjoy it!

If only it were a little closer I think this could become my regular spot for short breaks. Sunset crusies, drinks on the beach and shopping at the flea market all appeal.

      It’s the perfect getaway!

Terrible to admit but I have never heard of Los Cabos. Sounds totally amazing and I particularly love the natural landscapes on the ocean. There’s something about happy hour on a beach too isn’t there…..pure relaxation and just that feeling of being free. Looks like lots of fun.

Cancun gets a lot more attention in Mexico, but recently Los Cabos is getting a lot more. Perhaps you can take a trip out there one day! Definitely relaxing.

Looks like a great place to relax for a few days – I hadn’t heard of Los Cabos before. That arch is beautiful! I’d do the boat tour, the ATV ride and the flea market for sure.

Hopefully you get around to visiting. It’s a perfect place to relax!

As a college kid in Arizona, Los Cabos was our destination just about every summer and long weekend! It’s been too long, though. Time to go back! Thanks for the great ideas to fill our days.

That’s awesome! As Arizonans, ours was Puerto Penasco since it was a 3 1/2 hour drive. Have you been there?

Los Cabos has been at the top of my wish list for awhile now and from the look of your photos it’s a good choice! Saving your itinerary for future!

I really want to go to Cabo San Lucas now! The sunset cruise and Lover’s Beach look amazing!

I hope you get to go soon! You’ll enjoy it.
